Sorry About Our Warm Palm Springs Weather This Week!

Our Palm Springs weather this week is one major reason so many people choose to spend part of or all winter here and to invest in Palm Springs Real Estate. My husband Bill took the photo above just yesterday at Rancho La Quinta Country Club.

Daily sunshine this week, with high temperatures averaging about 82º F (27.7 º F) are certainly being enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Seeing people enjoying our Palm Springs area golf courses, tennis courts, bike paths and of course thousands of pools testament to our sunny days.

As you can imagine, we have clients that have primary homes and businesses located throughout the United States and Canada. And over the last few weeks I’ve been getting tons of weather updates from many wet, cold and snowy parts of North America. Several of these clients have recently purchased Palm Springs area homes and are looking forward to returning to the desert later this month.

To Warm For Canadians?

Just yesterday, Carol, one of my Canadian homebuyers at Hideaway Golf Club in La Quinta was telling me that she’d prefer cooler weather. She'd prefer our February temps to be in the 70’s rather than the low to mid 80’s. I’m curious. Do other Canadian’s feel the same way or are you good to go with the 80’s?

How’s The Palm Springs Real Estate Market?

Personally, our Sheri Dettman & Associates team of specialists is busy. Our 2014 sales were up about sixteen percent over the previous year, and we are forecasting double-digit growth again this year. As we examine our local golf and country club community sales trends each month, we again see that Palm Springs real estate is local. And when I say local, I’m talking about right down to the neighborhood level.

Keep in mind that the national and even local news outlets usually report Palm Springs real estate sales on a city-by-city comparison level. They also reference the median priced home. I looked at Todd & Noel’s local weather forecast for today, and it looks like 28ºF with snow. By comparison here in La Quinta today we’ve got 79ºF and sunny, and our Palm Springs area streets look a bit more inviting.

Step Back In Time To Cactus Jack's

My husband Bill and I decided to visit Cactus Jack’s at their original location in Indio for dinner (Bill's photos here are of the newer Palm Desert location), as we hadn’t been there in a few years. No matter, it’s like stepping back in time, and nothing much has changed!

Cactus Jack’s specializes in Prime Rib and large cocktails and on a Tuesday evening the joint was jumping. We found an eclectic crowd of mainly regulars, many who seem to know each other.

A Gathering Place For Friends Old & New

We had dinner at the bar, and the gentleman next to me was a luxury RV (Prevost) salesman that Bill and I had met in Bend, Oregon a few years back. At the other end of the bar was a past client of mine whom we were delighted to see. He’s a 747 pilot, and Cactus Jack’s just happens to be his 93-year-old mother’s favorite restaurant. It’s just that kind of place.

Bill enjoyed the BBQ Baby Back Pork Ribs with BBQ Beans and Cole Slaw. He said they were the best ribs he’d had here in the desert. Very meaty and juicy! I ordered the Cobb Salad, which was very fresh. The only thing I’d change would be to order the dressing on the side next time, as the salad was a bit overdressed to my taste.

A Good Variety Of Menu Selections

Cactus Jack’s offers all types of Steaks, a good selection of Pasta and Seafood along with a large selection of appetizers and Entrée sized Salads. They also offer a nice Bar Menu as well

Here, you’ll find a nice selection of wines, both by the glass and the bottle. We enjoyed a Washington State favorite of ours from 14 Hands Winery.

Stonefield Estates Next Phase Of New Homes Announced

Excitement is building, and so is the next phase of new luxury homes at Stonefield Estates in Southwest Indio.

Authentic Mexican Food In A Friendly Setting

Living in Southern California and especially the Palm Springs area, you expect to have access to great Mexican food. With Pueblo Viejo Grill, that’s what you get.

Even though they have been open since ‘05, we just recently discovered them on HWY 111, just West of Monroe in Indio. They have good reviews on Yelp, so we decided to give them a try.

Small, Colorful Local Hangout

Pueblo Viejo Grill is a small, colorful space that's usually very busy. However, the tables turn fairly quickly there and the longest we’ve waited was about 20 minutes (reservations for parties of six or more only).

I’ve enjoyed both the Tostada Salad with Shredded Chicken and the Fajita Salad with Grilled Chicken. The Chile Verde Burrito was also excellent. Next will be the Viva Chile Relleno.

#4: Famous Tamales

The No. 4 Pueblo Viejo Famous Tamale with pork is my husband Bill's favorite. This entree includes refried beans and Mexican-style rice. The rice and beans are likely some of the best we’ve had. They are flavorful and stand on their own, not just as a side dish.

While waiting for our entrees, we made the mistake of munching on their fresh housemade chips and salsa. Once you go down this path it’s hard to stop.

Margaritaville in Indio

As you’d expect, they have just about any kind of tequila you might fancy and any flavor Margarita. I enjoy the Skinny Margarita made with Agave and Fresh Lime. They also have a full bar.

New Palm Desert Location Opening Soon

Soon, you’ll be able to enjoy the experience at their new location in Palm Desert in the old TGI Friday’s space. They should be open by the end of December, and we look forward to visiting them there as well.

Pueblo Viejo Grill features Fajita specials on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Seafood on Wednesdays and Happy Hour daily along with lunch specials from 11-3.

They make every dish from scratch using only the freshest premium ingredients. The menu also features all the usual items from Quesadillas to Fish Tacos to Steak Ranchero.

The Old Town Coffee Company is a popular spot to sit outside, and people watch or enjoy the mountain views.
