New La Quinta Amenities Now Being Developed

If you’ve been around La Quinta this summer, you’ve likely noticed a lot of new commercial property development. Several developments are well under construction adjacent to the major Coachella Valley intersection of Washington Street and Highway 111. Our Sheri Dettman & Associates offices are just a block from this intersection in the Washington Plaza retail development.

Yesterday my husband Bill and I were enjoying dinner in Washington Plaza at Bucatini Italian Restaurant. Before dinner, I was interviewed by local KESQ TV reporter, Natalie Brunell about the nearby construction of the Century 12-screen cinema. Here’s a link to the KESQ video and story.

The Best Theaters In The Coachella Valley

The new theaters will likely be the best in the Palm Springs area. Movie Goer's will be able to enjoy a glass of wine, beer or a frozen cocktail in addition to visiting the cafeteria style concession stands. Once inside, the 12 theaters will be all digital 4K. Six screens being able to project 3D and one auditorium will feature CineMark XD Extreme Digital Cinema.

New La Quinta Restaurants

Just across the parking lot from our offices you can discover another new restaurant. My Thai cusine is opening this week. I'll pass on more information and a link to My Tai after our visit in the coming days.

Just a short walk away, two new fast-food restaurants are also under development. La Quinta's first In-N-Out Burger and Chick-fil-A are being built at the site of the former Cadillac dealer that had already moved to a new location just down Highway 111.

Plans for the Washington Plaza La Quinta theater complex include additional restaurants and shops so stay tuned!

Find Your Place In The Palm Springs Sun & Leave The Snow Behind

Find Your Place In The Palm Springs Sun & Leave The Snow Behind

“This Is Why We Need A California Home!" - Todd &Amp; Noel

Todd & Noel live in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. We are working together to find them a Palm Springs area vacation home. Just yesterday, Noel emailed this photo from their drive with the caption "This is why we need a California home!"

I looked at Todd & Noel’s local weather forecast for today, and it looks like 28ºF with snow. By comparison here in La Quinta today we’ve got 79ºF and sunny, and our Palm Springs area streets look a bit more inviting.

Got Snow?

If you happen to take an interesting winter photo from your home state or province, please drop us an email, and I’ll try to share it here or on our Sheri Dettman & Associates Facebook page.

Hopefully, Todd & Noel will be back enjoying our desert sun soon! Can I recommend any of our Featured Palm Springs Area Listings?

Hey Canada: Happy Canada Day 2014!

Hey Canada: Happy Canada Day 2014!

Much like our July 4th here in the United States, Canada Day celebrates the Constitution Act of 1867, which created Canada.

A Canadian federal law passed in 1879 makes July 1st a statutory holiday which progressed from the “Anniversary of Confederation” to “Dominion Day” and finally to “Canada Day.”

Every American Should Visit Canada More Than Once!

My husband Bill and I have enjoyed extensive visits to Canada over the years. And my advice for Americans that have not traveled to Canada is just to go! You won’t be disappointed.

Travel to Canada also represents a great summer getaway for full-time Palm Springs area residents and is closer than you think. The provinces (similar to our States) of British Columbia and Alberta are popular western Canada destinations for those of us in the Western U.S.

Canadians Investing In The Palm Springs Real Estate Market

Canadians continue to play an important role in the Palm Springs Real Estate Scene. Like many U.S. buyers, Canadians want to escape their cold and wet northern winters and what better place for them to discover a great home in the sun than the Palm Springs Area!

Over the years, Canadians have been investing in Palm Springs Area Real Estate in record numbers. Even with the Canadian Dollar down a bit in value this year compared to the US Dollar; Canadians continue to agree that the prices in the Palm Springs market are a great value–especially compared to metro cities in Canada.

Happy Canada Day eh!

Happy Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day!

Right After Canada Day We Follow With The 4th Of July

Shortly after Canada's Independence Day is celebrated each July 1st, we here in the U.S. follow with our own 4th Of July.

Enjoy a day with family or friends whether you're sticking your toes in the beach sand, hiking the mountains, or firing up the grill in the backyard (pool required here in the Palm Springs area).

Palm Springs Area Fireworks Displays

  • All American 4th Of July at The Palm Springs Stadium at 9:15 PM following baseball
  • Palm Desert's 4th of July Celebration at Civic Center Park. Concert 7:30 PM followed by fireworks
  • Renovations at The La Quinta Resort & Club have resulted in no fireworks this year in La Quinta, but the display will return next July.

Happy 4th Of July!

La Quinta Resort & Club Soon To Be Palm Springs Record Holder

La Quinta Resort & Club Soon To Be Palm Springs Record Holder

July 8th La Quinta Resort & Club Becomes Longest Operating Palm Springs Area Resort

On July 8th, The La Quinta Resort & Club will become the longest operating hotel/resort in the Palm Springs area. That’s due to the current record holder for oldest hotel, The Spa Resort Casino Hotel closing on July 8th.

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians announced the closing on their Facebook page to launch “a new vision” for downtown Palm Springs, which will be announced by the tribe later this year. The Tribe’s casino however is not closing.

Opened In 1927; Major Renovations This Summer

Built by Walter Morgan and opened in 1927, La Quinta Resort is one of the most popular properties in the desert and is slated for major renovations during the summer. The charm of this Spanish hacienda-styled resort is set to be preserved but with the property taking on a brightened look.

The summer will see refurbishing of the resort's 620 guest casitas and suites. Upgrades will include bedding, carpeting, wall coverings, tile, window treatments and bath fixtures to the furniture in materials and colors that pick up the hues of the desert landscape and La Quinta Resort’s iconic, hand-painted tiles.

Improvements To 41 Swimming Pools

Decking around the resort's 41 swimming pools will be redone, and new shade structures are being added to many areas. The main lobby will be opened up to draw in light and offer guests more lounge appeal.

The La Quinta resort will be open through the summer as work will be staged through the fall in a way to keep interference to a minimum.

Popular With Celebrities Then & Now

Early on, La Quinta Resort & Club was a retreat where Hollywood celebrities such as Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Ginger Rogers, Bette Davis and Frank Capra rubbed tennis elbows with America’s business elite such as the Vanderbilt’s and the Crocker family of Southern Pacific fame. Celebs still seem to enjoy the La Quinta Resort as just last month I was playing tennis just one court over from Will Ferrell.

Resort guests and the public can play the resorts two Pete Dye championship golf courses, and the resort's spa is considered one of the best in the Valley.

La Quinta Resort Real Estate Opportunities

Real estate opportunities at La Quinta Resort include the Spa & Tennis Villas, Santa Rosa Cove Condos, Enclave & Enclave Mountain Estates, and the adjacent Legacy Villas.

Spring Has Sprung In The Palm Springs Real Estate Market

New Video: The Winter Lifestyle In Palm Springs

As our Palm Springs winter turns into springtime, I’d like to share a 2-minute HD video that my husband Bill put together. These Palm Springs area scenes are from our golf and country club communities, as well as a few non-golf communities taken from December through March of this winter.

Most of our Sheri Dettman & Associates buyer clients are investing in a lifestyle for their family and friends rather than just a Palm Springs area home. It’s about finding just the right Palm Springs area home or luxury condo for your lifestyle and then negotiating the best price and terms possible!

Spring & Summer Bring Our Most Serious Buyer Clients

Did you know that spring and especially our summer months bring our most serious buyers to the Palm Springs area? Over the years, we’ve found that people coming during the spring and summer months are on a mission. And that mission is usually not to return home without choosing a property that they’ll be able to enjoy here next winter.

And based upon the winters that much of North America experienced this year, we are predicting that our spring and summers buyers will be here this spring and summer in record numbers.

May we help you find your Palm Springs area home in the sun?

Approaching Sunset At La Quinta Resort

Last month I wrote about our client Kate's love for the Palm Springs area sunshine and her enjoyment of her new home here at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells.

In the days following that February newsletter article being published, I was pleasantly surprised in receiving numerous emails and phone calls from clients and friends all commenting on the subject.

Please Stop Sending Me Those Sunny Desert Photos!

One person wrote, "please stop sending me your newsletters filled with sunny photos of golf courses and pools as you're driving me crazy! Just kidding actually, your photos are helping me to stay warm here in Canada. Please keep sending them!"

Another client wrote, “thank you for keeping us connected to the Palm Springs area when we’re not able to be there enjoying our home. We can’t wait to get back next week. In the meantime, please keep posting your photos!”

After helping hundreds of people find their place in the sun here, I've come to the conclusion that people just seem to be in a better mood when they're here in the desert. Especially when they’re escaping rain, cold, snow or even all of these winter elements combined.

Sunset Dinner On The Salono's Patio

Last night my husband Bill and I were reminded of one of the many reasons we love life here in the Palm Springs area. We were enjoying a casual dinner on the patio at Solano’s Bistro in Old Town La Quinta. Live classical guitar music was drifting out the open door of the nearby lounge area, and the temperature outside was a perfect 84º at 6:30 P.M.

As we enjoyed our dinner together, we took in the sunset over the nearby Santa Rosa Mountains. A couple of dozen puffy white clouds slowly changed colors going from white to salmon, to shades of pink before the sun set on another nice day in the desert.

Much More Than Real Estate, It's About Lifestyle!

If you’re considering investing in a Palm Springs area home or luxury condo, keep in mind that most of our buyer clients are investing in a lifestyle for their family and friends rather than just a Palm Springs area home. This is about much more than real estate; it’s about finding just the right Palm Springs area property for your lifestyle and then negotiating the best price and terms possible!

For those of us already enjoying either a part-time or full-time desert lifestyle, you know what I’m writing about here. Tell a few of your friends, but not too many!

Palm Springs Area Photo Of The Day

Palm Springs Area Photo Of The Day

If you’re like me you sometimes get a little too busy to actually to stop and smell the roses. And here in the Palm Springs area we have that opportunity almost every day so there are few excuses not to!

Just today I was driving through the luxury new home community of Stonefield Estates in Southwest Indio (Sheri Dettman & Associates represents the developer at Stonefield), and after some rare desert rain on Saturday these roses seemed extra special so I stopped, smelled these roses and took this photo.

Roses & Olive Trees Thrive In The Palm Springs Area

This view is looking southwest towards La Quinta and the nearby Santa Rosa Mountains. Note the two olive trees (non-fruit bearing olive trees) which also thrive year-round in the desert.

If you’re here in the desert don’t forgot to stop and enjoy some roses or other flowers or plants found here in the Palm Springs area–there’s plenty to go around! And if you’re somewhere where the sun isn’t shining and the flowers aren’t blooming right now, we can help you remedy that situation when you’re ready.
