The Local on 50th – The La Quinta Hot Spot
If you haven’t been to The Local on 50th lately, consider this your friendly nudge (okay, shove). You’re missing out. Big time. This second reincarnation of the space came back with a glow-up: new owners, refreshed vibe, and an attitude adjustment that’s nothing short of stellar.
Located in the Citrus Plaza (yes, where Ralph’s lives), The Local has become exactly what the name promises—a true neighborhood hangout. It’s a favorite of my team, my neighbors, and judging by the packed house when we were there a few days ago, pretty much everyone else too. Locals, snowbirds, visitors… if you’re breathing and hungry, you’re probably there. I never fail to run into someone I know enjoying the food, drinks, music, or just soaking up the vibe.
One of the best—and increasingly rare—touches? A staff that genuinely seems to like their jobs. Everyone is welcoming, upbeat, and on it. And Nelson at the bar? Absolute superstar. If bartending had an MVP award, he’d already have a shelf full.
Let’s talk food, because wow.
The Loaded Nachos are practically a meal for a small village: house-made tortilla chips piled high with refried beans, chorizo, carne asada, chicken, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Sharing is optional. Judgment is suspended.
We’re also big fans of the CV Flatbread, topped with fig jam, mozzarella, local dates, prosciutto, and arugula—a sweet-and-savory combo that somehow works perfectly every single time.
My personal favorite is the Fig & Goat Burger: a signature Angus blend patty topped with goat cheese, arugula, and fig jam on a brioche bun. It’s rich, balanced, and just messy enough to be worth it.
Michael goes straight for the Short Ribs, topped with demi-glaze and served with creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies—comfort food that means business.
Lauren (on my team) swears by the Steak Frites: marinated tender steak, sliced and topped with house-made chimichurri, served with truffle fries. Bonus points for gluten-free folks—they’ll make the fries GF to order, which she very much appreciates.
On the drinks front, The Local doesn’t mess around: an impressive lineup of craft beers, well-crafted cocktails, and a nicely curated wine list. Enjoy it all inside, or outside on their spacious patio—dealer’s choice.
And just when you think it can’t get better, there’s the entertainment. Half-off wine Mondays, Trivia Tuesdays, Music Bingo, Mimosa Brunch specials, and live performances from some of the best local musicians around. Translation: there’s always something going on.

Bottom line: come hungry, come thirsty, and don’t be surprised if you start calling it your local too.
