Dining Around The Desert: Lunas Bar & Grill

Lunas Bar & Grill – A Hidden Gem That’s No Longer a Secret

Tucked into the stylish Canopy at Citrus Plaza in Indio (at Jefferson and 50th), Lunas Bar & Grill has been turning heads and filling bellies for just over a year—and for all the right reasons.

First things first: the staff is stellar. From the hostess who greets you with a genuine smile to the bartenders who could moonlight as mixologists and the servers who actually seem to enjoy their jobs (imagine that!), the service is always top-tier and effortlessly friendly.

cocktails

Now let’s talk food—because that’s why we’re all here, right? Consistently delicious, generously portioned, and thoughtfully plated, every dish we’ve tried has delivered. The specialty cocktails are creative without being gimmicky, and the small but mighty wine list keeps things interesting.

For starters, Michael and I are a little addicted to the Lunatic Nachos—a glorious mess of white cheddar, queso fresco, refried beans, pico, pickled jalapeños, sour cream, and guac. We’ve also dabbled (okay, devoured) the Steamed Mussels and Crispy Calamari, both winners.

Burrata Flatbread SaladBurrata Flatbread Salad

When we’re feeling a bit more virtuous (or pretending to be), we go for the Burrata Flatbread Salad—field greens tossed in a tangy balsamic vinaigrette, topped with creamy burrata, shaved prosciutto, and served on crisp flatbread with a drizzle of aged balsamic that ties it all together. The Caprese and Ahi Tuna Crunch Salad are no slouches either. Oh, and don’t skip the tacos—trust me.

Mains? We’ve taste-tested our way through the Braised Boneless Short Rib, Rigatoni Bolognese, Lasagna, Roasted Chicken, and Marcy’s Enchiladas Verdes. All hits. No skips.

Lunas is family-owned

And here’s the secret sauce: Lunas is family-owned, and they’ve been in the food and beverage game for over 27 years. You’ll see them on the floor, behind the bar, and making sure everything runs like a well-oiled (olive) machine. Their passion shows.

Pro tip: They’ve just shifted to summer hours, so plan accordingly—they’re closed Sunday and Monday, and open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5 PM.

Bottom line: Lunas isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a vibe. A delicious, welcoming, perfectly shaken vibe.
