Twin Palms, Palm Springs The Twin Palms community holds an important place in Palm Springs history. Twin Palms was the first midcentury modern development built by the Alexanders. It was also the first tract home development in the desert. Twin Palms popularity gave birth to Palm Springs first major housing boom and forever changed the housing landscape. Alexander style homes in Twin Palms are noted for their open carports, clerestory windows, exposed concrete block, open breezeways, and their biggest design feature–butterfly roofs. In the ‘60’s contemporary Spanish design came to Twin Palms, and today you’ll discover a mix of midcentury modern and Spanish. There are no HOA’s with Twin Palms. Instead, The Twin Palms Neighborhood Association is a voluntary neighborhood organization. Most Twin Palms homes were built from the ‘60’s through ’04, and there is a mix on new construction home today. Many early build homes have been remodeled or rebuilt.
